AMPERSANDS

a mini project called "glyph love"

EVERYONE LOVES AMPERSANDS.

I wanted to be a sceptic and question why there are so many posters or prints of an '&'. But it was hard to be negative about it. I also love ampersands.

They are just so pretty. its probably one of the best thing about designing a font. "how crazy can I make my &?" I think that may be you would know that you are a bit of a geek when you ask this question.

I also love how its a symbol for such an ordinary word ... the word 'and' is a conjunction....I'm not even sure what a conjunction is.

But anyways, I thought I would be a cliche and do something with ampersands...there is after all a reason why so many people love them

Yorkshire/ British Pie Festival Brief

I decided to write myself a brief. This started off from me wanting to draw pies and then to me wanting me to make posters about pies. So I thought, I would put it all into context and promote and possibly brand something pie related. I didn't want to do restaurants or bakeries. So I decided to brand and promote a pie festival.

I didn't some research and there were pie festivals and pie weeks that already existed but none had very good websites or logos.

So....Here's the brief I've written


BRIEF:

-Create an identity for a pie festival. The location, dates and name can be specified by the designer.

-Promote the festival through varios materials

CENCEPT:

- identity should reach the target audience which is quite varied
-logo should be adaptable to a range of surfaces

BACKGROUND: pie is one of the icons of British cousine. Savoury or Sweet

Aim of festival is to celebrate the heritage of British pie
to Recognise the crafts of bakers and butchers

TARGET AUDIENCE: people who like food, families , bakers, butchers,

TONE OF VOICE: light hearted, simple, friendly,family orientated
